Capacitor bank is a combination of several capacitor of same rating that can be connected in parallel or series to store electrical energy. Capacitor banks are mainly used to enhance the electrical supply quality and to enhance the power system efficiently. It can be used for reactive power compensation
and power factor correction in the power substations.

How does a capacitor bank work,

The True or Real or Actual Power dissipated in the circuit is known as Active Power which is actually utilized or consumed. (Also known as useful or watt-full power). A Power which continuously bounces back and forth between source and load is known as Reactive Power.

Capacitor banks store electric energy when it is connected to a charging circuit and release that energy when discharged. Capacitors are commonly used in magnetic field, such as motors, generators and transformers.
